Blizzard Entertainment will launch " World of Warcraft: Forever," a game set during the first year of the original 2004 "World of Warcraft," Nov. 4.
The "Forever" project was revealed as the final announcement during the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2026 at the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday, but rumors about the title (colloquially known as "World of Warcraft Classic+" among the fans that have been speculating online) have been swirling for weeks.

Blizzard’s "Warcraft" chief Holly Longdale said that developers intend for the world of the game to be a main character in "Forever" and noted that in this new MMO it’s "the journey that counts, not the destination."
At launch, “World of Warcraft: Forever" will include three new zones, over 1,000 new quests, nine new dungeons, two new raids and a new Skyborne race. The game will have a skill level cap of 60, in line with the original launch version of “WoW.”
In addition to the “Forever” announcement, the "Warcraft" team announced a new campaign for "Warcraft 3," the first in more than two decades, which launches today.
BlizzCon’s opening ceremony also included announcements about a new "StarCraft" game coming in 2030, "Diablo V" releasing in 2029 and a "Diablo" animated TV series in the works at Netflix.
Variety will be on the ground at BlizzCon Sept. 12-13 and readers can follow along here for our coverage of the event, a celebration of all things Blizzard Entertainment, from "StarCraft" to "Diablo" to "World of Warcraft" to "Overwatch."
