The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on November 22, 2024, that crews were working to repair several water leaks across St. Thomas, including breaks affecting West Julian Jackson Road, Veterans Drive, Long Bay Road and Hospital Ground.
WAPA said a ruptured 10-inch water main on West Julian Jackson Road required extensive repairs and temporary service isolation in the area. On Veterans Drive, an 18-inch main leak directly affected three customers and caused some disruption to Frenchtown while isolation measures were put in place. The authority said water service to Frenchtown had been fully restored by the night of November 21, 2024.
The authority said repairs were scheduled on a water line serving Yacht Haven Grande on Long Bay Road, with work expected to continue for the next one to two days. In Hospital Ground, crews were preparing to address a leak affecting customers in that area and nearby higher-elevation neighborhoods, with work scheduled for November 22 or November 23, 2024.
WAPA said it was using an excavator for multiple jobs across the island and that some work could extend through the weekend because of the number and complexity of the repairs.
