Bryan ordered early dismissal of non-essential government employees ahead of Tropical Storm Ernesto

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. ordered the early dismissal of non-essential government employees across the U.S. Virgin Islands effective at noon on Aug. 13, 2024, ahead of Tropical Storm Ernesto.

Government House said the dismissal was intended to allow employees time to prepare as weather conditions were expected to deteriorate by late afternoon.

Essential employees, including emergency response and public safety personnel, were to remain on duty during the storm.

Government House said residents should monitor advisories from the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency and other official sources.
