Starting March 15, Fly the Whale will commence daily flight operations, bridging St. Croix’s Henry A. Rohlsen Airport and Puerto Rico’s San Juan Isla Grande Airport (SIG). This new venture aims to serve the essential travel needs of business professionals, medical patients, and tourists, featuring up to three round trips every day.

David Ziemer, the Chief Operating Officer at Fly the Whale, underscored the significant customer demand for this route. He pointed out Isla Grande’s strategic location and its reputation for dependable service as pivotal reasons for choosing it for their latest offering. Its close vicinity to the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport enhances the convenience for passengers making further connections to the mainland USA or international flights.

Since its foray into the inter-island service between St. Croix and St. Thomas in April last year, Fly the Whale has successfully ferried over ten thousand passengers, operating nine daily round trips. The introduction of the St. Croix to San Juan route is set to make travel between these destinations more straightforward, providing a hassle-free alternative to the often complex large airport navigations. The fare for a one-way flight starts at an enticing $125, with potential adjustments based on ticket demand.

Omer ErSelcuk, the President of Fly the Whale, shared his optimism about the launch, emphasizing its role in facilitating frequent business trips, medical travel, and vacationing opportunities across Puerto Rico and St. Croix.

In a strategic partnership, Fly the Whale is collaborating with Vieques Air Link for ground services at Isla Grande Airport and for ticket sales. Vieques Air Link boasts a commendable track record of reliability, operating over 50 daily flights within Puerto Rico and to its islands Vieques and Culebra, and providing bespoke charter services to the U.S. and British Virgin Islands since 1965.

Fly the Whale is committed to delivering an exceptional travel experience, focusing on safety, dependability, amiable service, and passenger comfort. As a proud carrier based in the U.S. Virgin Islands, it plays a vital role in stimulating local economic development by making travel more accessible and pleasant.

Travel enthusiasts and regular commuters can now pre-book their flights to San Juan Isla Grande via Fly the Whale’s website, with services set to take off on March 15, 2024. Established in 2006, Fly the Whale is renowned for its high-quality scheduled and charter flight services across New York City, the Northeast, Florida, and The Bahamas, maintaining an ARGUS GOLD rating for its steadfast commitment to safety and excellence in service.
