National Park Service Offers Workshop on Federal Resume Writing in the Virgin Islands

The National Park Service (NPS) is thrilled to announce a comprehensive workshop aimed at enhancing resume writing skills for federal job positions. Scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, 2024, this session is set to unfold at the Virgin Islands National Park Visitor Center in Cruz Bay, St. John. From 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., residents of the Virgin Islands are invited to partake in an invaluable educational experience designed to refine their approach to the federal job application process.

Expert Human Resource Specialists from the NPS’s Southeast Regional Office will lead the workshop, offering insights on “Writing Your Federal Resume,” “Writing An Effective Resume,” along with vital tips on pitfalls to avoid in resume crafting. The initiative is tailor-made to prime Virgin Islanders for imminent hiring rounds within the National Park Service, aiming to position them as formidable contenders for these opportunities.

Acting Superintendent of Virgin Islands National Park and Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument, Scott Simmons, highlighted the critical nature of the workshop for local job aspirants. Simmons conveyed, “With the expectation of filling positions later this year, it is crucial for Virgin Islanders to possess the requisite resume skills to stand out in the hiring process.” He added, “This workshop not only empowers prospective applicants with knowledge but also opens a dialogue to demystify the federal application process.”

Embedded in the Virgin Islands National Park’s ongoing efforts, this workshop underscores a commitment to nurturing employment and training avenues for Virgin Islanders. The goal is to ensure they are adept and ready to play a significant role in safeguarding the environmental heritage of their island community.
