The skies between St. Croix and Puerto Rico witnessed a remarkable addition this Saturday as Fly the Whale introduced its daily flight service to the Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci Airport, commonly referred to as Aeropuerto de Isla Grande. Departing from St. Croix, this new route marks a significant expansion for the carrier, which has already established a robust presence with its flights between St. Croix and St. Thomas.

Opting for a unique approach, Fly the Whale distinguishes itself from other airlines by avoiding the crowded Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. Instead, it offers travelers a more convenient gateway to Puerto Rico, landing at an airport strategically located near the island’s bustling cruise port and a host of key attractions.

The inaugural flight, which we had the pleasure of experiencing firsthand, set a new standard for hassle-free travel. From boarding in St. Croix to deboarding in Puerto Rico, the journey was characterized by ease and efficiency, particularly notable during the customs process.

Our journey offered breathtaking scenic views, especially as we neared Puerto Rican airspace, enhancing the overall travel experience. The aircraft’s entry into this picturesque landscape was a highlight, offering vistas that rival any in the region.

The warmth and professionalism of the Fly the Whale staff further enriched the experience, making the boarding process a breeze. With up to three flights available daily and ticket prices beginning at $125, the service caters to a variety of travelers, including those traveling for business, medical needs, or leisure.

Omer ErSelcuk, the President of Fly the Whale, shared the carrier’s objective of establishing essential connections that support the diverse needs of travelers. In a strategic partnership with Vieques Air Link, the airline ensures efficient ground handling at Isla Grande and facilitates reservation sales. Vieques Air Link, a respected name in aviation since 1965, is celebrated for its dependability, operating over 50 daily flights within Puerto Rico and to Vieques and Culebra, as well as offering tailor-made charter services to the U.S. and British Virgin Islands.

This new service by Fly the Whale is poised to become a preferred choice for those seeking a direct, enjoyable, and scenic route to Puerto Rico, underscoring the airline’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and travel convenience.
