The Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources said on May 10, 2023, that a public meeting was scheduled for May 11 on a federal consistency application tied to a Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority project to bury utility lines along Queen Mary Highway on St. Croix.
According to the notice, application CZM0008-23 covered a federally funded underground project that would install ducts, manholes, pad-mounted transformers and other underground equipment to replace overhead distribution lines from Emancipation Drive in Frederiksted to the Villa La Reine intersection.
The meeting was scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on May 11, 2023, by Zoom. Written statements were due by May 18, 2023, to the Department of Planning and Natural Resources' Coastal Zone Management program.
The notice said the environmental assessment report was available on the DPNR-CZM website, and project plans could be reviewed by appointment at the Coastal Zone Management office at 45 Mars Hill in Frederiksted.
