Low water levels disrupted service from mid-island to Frederiksted on St. Croix
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on October 24, 2018, that customers from mid-island to the western end of St. Croix, including Frederiksted, were experiencing little to no water service.
WAPA said low water levels at the Kingshill and Mountain storage tanks followed a scheduled water system shutdown on October 21, 2018, and an electrical service interruption on October 23, 2018, that affected the Contentment and Concordia pump stations.
The utility said customers in higher-elevation areas were expected to have no water service. WAPA said the disruption was expected to continue until tank levels recovered, with normal service anticipated within 72 hours.
