Mapp toured three St. Croix schools as temporary repairs continued before start of school year
Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp toured three St. Croix public schools on Aug. 24, 2018, as contractor APTIM Environmental & Infrastructure continued temporary repairs at six schools ahead of the new school year.
The tour included Alfredo Andrews Elementary School, Pearl B. Larsen Elementary School and John H. Woodson Junior High School. According to Government House, the work included cleaning and sanitizing classrooms, walls, floors and bathrooms, installing ceiling tiles, removing damaged equipment and replacing damaged floor tiles.
During the inspection, work crews were still completing tasks. Government House said APTIM executives told Mapp the work would be finished in time for schools to reopen.
Government House said APTIM's work on St. Croix also covered Alexander Henderson Elementary School, Eulalie Rivera Elementary School and Lew Muckle Elementary School. The company's responsibilities included mold remediation, roof repairs, sanitation and other repairs.
