Bryan marks National Lineman Appreciation Day in U.S. Virgin Islands

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. marked National Lineman Appreciation Day on April 18, 2019, recognizing Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority line personnel and other linemen who remained in the territory after the 2017 hurricane recovery.

In a statement, Bryan said linemen played a key role in maintaining electrical infrastructure across St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix and Water Island, and cited their work restoring power to homes, hospitals, schools and businesses after the September 2017 hurricanes.

The statement also described linemen as first responders during severe weather and other emergencies, and urged residents to reflect on the restoration work completed before Christmas 2017.
