St. Croix water interruption was scheduled for Oct. 19, 2019

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on October 16, 2019, that potable water service on St. Croix would be interrupted on Saturday, October 19, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

WAPA said the interruption would affect Sion Farm, Catherine’s Rest, Golden Rock and Anna’s Hope, as well as Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital.

The authority said the outage was needed so contractor GEC could connect a new 24-inch water main to an existing main line near Beeston Hill.

WAPA said the southbound lane toward Catherine’s Rest would be closed while the work was underway, and motorists traveling through the area were directed to use caution and follow traffic instructions.

The work was part of the Pressure Management Phase 2B project, which WAPA said involved installation of a new 24-inch waterline.
