The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said it scheduled an electrical service interruption on St. Thomas for August 26, 2023, from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. to carry out repairs and safety work.

WAPA said feeders 9B and 10B, along with portions of feeders 6B and 7B, were expected to be affected during the outage.

The authority said the interruption was needed to complete repairs after a customer’s failed equipment connected to the grid damaged WAPA electrical infrastructure. WAPA said that failure contributed to a series of scheduled outages on St. Thomas in the preceding days while crews worked on repairs.

WAPA also said the work required additional safety procedures because crews needed access to underground manholes.
