Bryan signed gas-station moratorium and Juan F. Luis Hospital land appropriation bills into law
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. signed two bills into law on March 25, 2021, including a five-year moratorium on issuing permits for the construction and operation of gas stations in the U.S. Virgin Islands and a measure appropriating funds to buy land for the reconstruction of Juan F. Luis Hospital on St. Croix.
In a transmittal letter to Senate President Donna Frett-Gregory, Bryan said he wanted the Legislature to amend Bill No. 34-0010 to provide a waiver for pending and current construction permits for gas stations.
Bryan also approved Bill No. 34-0017, which appropriated $400,000 from the Community Facilities Trust Account and any unexpended funds from Act 7697 to purchase Plot No. 7 in Estate Diamond Ruby for the reconstruction and expansion of Juan F. Luis Hospital.
