The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said it visited Juanita Gardine Elementary School on St. Croix and Addelita Cancryn Junior High School on St. Thomas during Career Education Week to discuss careers in the energy and utility sectors.

At Juanita Gardine Elementary School, WAPA employees described the work of an electrical engineer, lineman, line supervisor and clerk dispatcher, and discussed the role of teamwork in utility operations.

At Cancryn, the authority’s human resources staff spoke with students about recruiting and the importance of study habits and completing high school.

The authority said employees from its Human Resources and Transmission and Distribution departments took part in the school visits.
