Claude Walker named acting governor during Mapp trip to Washington
Attorney General Claude Walker was set to serve as acting governor beginning late on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, while Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp, Lt. Gov. Osbert Potter and Finance Commissioner Valdamier Collens were out of the territory.
Government House said Mapp and Collens were traveling to Washington for meetings that week with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development officials and Vice President Mike Pence.
Senate President Myron Jackson was serving as acting lieutenant governor. Senate Vice President Nereida "Nellie" O'Reilly was set to begin serving as acting lieutenant governor on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, when Jackson left the territory.
