The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said it participated in a Career Day event on March 23, 2023, at the St. Thomas-St. John Seventh-day Adventist School for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

WAPA said about 60 students attended the event. The authority said its Line Department demonstrated operation of a bucket truck and showed equipment including a pole extension and harness used by lineworkers. Staff from the Water Distribution Department gave a presentation on reverse osmosis and the movement of water from capture to distribution.

The authority also displayed an electric vehicle and explained differences between electric and traditional vehicles. Representatives from the line, engineering, water, maintenance and communications departments answered students' questions about their work, according to the release.
