Averil E. George named acting Labor commissioner as Catherine Hendry resigns

Gov. Kenneth Mapp appointed Averil E. George acting commissioner of the Virgin Islands Department of Labor, effective June 25, 2018, according to a Government House announcement published June 22, 2018.

George, assistant director of the Division of Personnel, was named to replace Labor Commissioner Catherine Hendry.

Government House said Hendry informed the governor that she had accepted a position as legal counsel for the Virgin Islands Port Authority.
