The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on March 11, 2024, that the Hannah’s Rest Waterline Rehabilitation Project on St. Croix was underway.

WAPA said the project was estimated to cost $3.2 million and was funded through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and administered locally by the Department of Planning and Natural Resources.

The work was set to replace existing ductile iron waterlines in Estate Hannah’s Rest with about 10,800 feet of 6-inch C-900 PVC pipe, along with valves, fittings, service connections, meter boxes, hydrants and road pavement restoration.

WAPA said the project was scheduled to run from February 2024 through September 2024. Residents in the area were told to expect construction activity that could affect road conditions, as well as possible scheduled water service interruptions during installation, testing and activation of the new system.

The authority said Caritech, VI Paving and Marco St. Croix Inc. were involved in the design and construction work. WAPA also said the Clifton Hill water rehabilitation project had been completed and that the Campo Rico project was making progress.
