47th Agriculture and Food Fair on St. Croix continued through May 28 after hurricane-related postponement

The 47th Annual Agriculture and Food Fair at the Rudolph E. Schulterbrandt Agricultural Complex in Estate Lower Love on St. Croix continued through May 28, 2018, after being postponed from its usual February schedule because Hurricanes Irma and Maria damaged livestock and crops.

Government House said Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp attended the fair and presented a plaque to the family of Sharon M. Brown, the late director of food exhibits on the Fair Board. Brown had served on the board for nearly two decades, and the 2018 fair was named in her honor.

At the event, Linda Lacy-Hodge was named Livestock Farmer of the Year and Grantley Samuel was named Crop Farmer of the Year.

Government House said the fair featured vendors selling local food and handmade goods, along with farmers offering plants and produce. The published schedule listed fair hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 27 and noon to 6 p.m. on May 28.
