Bryan issues statement on EPA cleanup agreement with Port Hamilton refinery owners

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. on Dec. 5, 2022, issued a statement on a cleanup agreement between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Port Hamilton Refining and Transportation involving the St. Croix refinery site.

Bryan said the agreement concerned cleanup at the site and described it as part of efforts to restore refinery operations while protecting the health of St. Croix residents who work at or live near the facility.

He said the government would continue working with the EPA and Port Hamilton on what he described as a safe path toward the refinery’s progressive reopening.
