Bryan comments on Limetree Bay Refinery Chapter 11 filing
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. said on July 13, 2021, that Limetree Bay Refinery's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing was disheartening for residents and families who relied on income and employment from the refinery, as well as for local contractors and supporting businesses affected by the decision.
In a statement, Bryan said the government's focus was on ensuring that the remaining work to bring the refinery offline was completed without incident, that affected workers were made whole, and that the interests of the Virgin Islands government were secured.
Bryan also said the administration planned to work with creditors on the possibility of reopening the refinery with new investment.
