Mapp extends U.S. Virgin Islands state of emergency through Aug. 1, 2018

Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp signed an order extending the U.S. Virgin Islands state of emergency through Aug. 1, 2018, according to a Government House announcement published June 29, 2018. The previous order was set to expire July 2, 2018.

Government House said the extension was issued while the territory remained under a presidential disaster declaration and continued recovering from Hurricanes Irma and Maria, which had caused significant damage to infrastructure including hospitals, schools, government offices, ports and roadways.

The latest declaration removed a provision freezing prices, with Government House saying market conditions in the territory had stabilized.
