St. Croix water interruption scheduled for Aug. 30 as road work begins for Campo Rico waterline tie-in

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said road construction tied to the Campo Rico Waterline Rehabilitation Project was scheduled to begin on St. Croix on Aug. 29, 2023, from about 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., affecting Hannah’s Rest Road and Centerline Road.

WAPA said the work involved excavation and an exploratory dig to facilitate a waterline tie-in.

The authority said a potable water service interruption was scheduled to begin on Aug. 30, 2023, at 3 p.m. and last about 10 hours while crews completed the connection from the old system to the rehabilitated system.

WAPA said the interruption was expected to affect Mars Hill, Claude O. Markoe Elementary School, the Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion Housing Community, the Department of Planning and Natural Resources office, Target Gas Station, Hannah’s Rest, White Lady, White Bay, Stoney Ground, Two Brothers and Smithfield.
