The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on December 5, 2023, that it had provided the 35th Legislature with a monthly update on its planned acquisition of Vitol’s propane supply infrastructure through the Office of Senate President Francis.

WAPA said the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development had approved its grant application for the acquisition, with WAPA acting as a subrecipient of the Virgin Islands Housing and Finance Authority.

According to the update, VIHFA had completed its capacity assessment of WAPA, and WAPA was continuing to provide additional information requested by VIHFA.

WAPA also said it was prepared to assume operations and maintenance of the facility when the transaction closed and intended to keep the current third-party operations and maintenance provider, Saintnals, in place to maintain continuity.
