Government House said no new COVID-19 restrictions had been announced

Government House said on Aug. 7, 2020, that no official announcement had been made on beach closures, additional restaurant restrictions or further limits on gatherings for funerals and other events in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The statement was issued in response to information circulating about possible renewed COVID-19 restrictions on businesses and community activities.

Government House said Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. and members of the administration’s COVID-19 Task Force had met with tourism industry stakeholders on Aug. 6, 2020, and discussed possible future actions, but said any measures mentioned were contingent on data to be received in the following days.

Government House said additional information would be provided during the governor’s next COVID-19 update on Aug. 10, 2020.
