Limetree Bay, V.I. COVID-19 task force set screening rules for contractors returning to St. Croix
Government House said on May 8, 2020, that the Virgin Islands COVID-19 task force and Limetree Bay were enforcing screening and monitoring protocols for new and returning contract workers traveling to St. Croix from the U.S. mainland.
The protocols required Limetree to pre-approve travel and required contractors to provide the Department of Health with their on-island address and flight itinerary before arrival. Workers also were required to complete pre-travel screening, including a COVID-19 PCR test, undergo temperature screening, and remain in mandatory isolation until they received a negative test result.
Additional requirements called for contractors to wear face coverings at work for 14 days after arrival, report symptoms or illness immediately, and stay home if they felt ill. New and returning contractors also were subject to daily temperature checks at a designated area when entering the Limetree facility, with temperatures recorded each day.
Government House said that if a contractor tested positive for COVID-19, the worker would be sent to Limetree's quarantine wing or the local address on file and would need a Department of Health release letter before leaving quarantine and returning to work.
The statement said most of the workers would be isolated within Limetree Bay Village.
