Bryan ordered administrative leave for non-essential government employees on May 1 after St. Thomas Carnival was canceled

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued an executive order on April 28, 2020, granting administrative leave to non-essential government employees to mark St. Thomas Carnival, which had been canceled because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Under the order, government offices were to be closed on Friday, May 1, 2020.

The announcement said the leave was issued as the territory observed the work of front-line workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
