Roach said Medicare Part D open enrollment deadline was Dec. 7, 2019
Lt. Gov. Tregenza A. Roach said on Nov. 5, 2019, that the open enrollment deadline for Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage was Dec. 7, 2019.
The notice said Medicare beneficiaries could join or drop a prescription drug plan by that date. It said Part D offered prescription drug coverage to Medicare beneficiaries, with some exceptions.
According to the notice, beneficiaries with employer or union health coverage did not need to enroll in a prescription drug plan, and joining Part D could result in the loss of union or employer health coverage.
The statement said beneficiaries seeking Medicare prescription drug coverage had to join a plan offered by a private insurance company approved by Medicare. It said plans set their own costs and determine which prescription drugs are covered each year.
The notice advised beneficiaries to review their current coverage before the enrollment deadline. It said people satisfied with their current plan did not need to re-enroll, while those who did not participate in the 2019 open enrollment period would have to wait until the following year to make changes to their coverage.
