Government House announced Christmas tree lightings and children’s holiday parties on St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John

Government House announced on Dec. 6, 2019, that Gov. Albert Bryan Jr., First Lady Yolanda Bryan and their daughter, Sumayah Bryan, would host Christmas tree lightings and children’s holiday parties on St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John later that month.

According to the announcement, Sumayah Bryan selected the themes for the official Christmas trees and surrounding decorations: a madras theme on St. Croix, a Santa’s village theme on St. Thomas and a tropical theme on St. John.

The St. Croix tree lighting was scheduled for 6 p.m. on Dec. 14, 2019, at Fort Christiansvaern in Christiansted, coinciding with the annual Boat Parade in Christiansted Harbor.

The St. John children’s holiday party and tree lighting were scheduled for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 17, 2019, at Franklin Powell Park in Cruz Bay.

The St. Thomas children’s holiday party and tree lighting were scheduled for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2019, at Emancipation Garden in Charlotte Amalie.

Government House said the St. Croix children’s holiday party would be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 24, 2019, at Fort Christiansvaern.

The announcement said the events were free and would include children’s activities, face-painting, an appearance by Santa Claus, quadrille and mocko jumbie performances, live music and gifts for children.
