Route 70 closure scheduled on St. Croix for water main installation
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said Route 70 on St. Croix was scheduled to close on Sunday, December 9, 2018, between the Questa Verde entrance and the Golden Rock/Christiansted Bypass intersection.
The closure was set to begin at 6:30 a.m. and remain in effect until work was completed. Motorists were to be rerouted at the intersections of Route 723 and Route 70 and of Route 63 and Route 70.
WAPA said contractor GEC LLC was scheduled to install a new 24-inch water main as part of the Pressure Management Plan Phase II project. The authority said the work had originally been scheduled for November 18, 2018, but was postponed because of weather.
WAPA said the road closure was not expected to interrupt water service.
