Bryan said marine task force tracked 102 newly registered vessels in U.S. Virgin Islands waters
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. said on April 8, 2020, that a marine task force formed during the territory’s coronavirus response had registered 90 new vessels in the St. Thomas-St. John District and 12 in the St. Croix District.
Bryan said the task force was monitoring vessels moored in territorial waters, that all were paying mooring fees and were being tracked by GPS, and that 35 boats had left the territory by cargo vessel, with more expected to leave the following week.
During the same COVID-19 briefing, Bryan said 322 people had been tested for the virus, with 242 negative results, 45 positive results and 35 pending cases. He said 39 people had recovered, one person had died and the Health Department was tracking five active cases.
Bryan also said two of three patients hospitalized at Schneider Regional Medical Center on St. Thomas were expected to be discharged on April 8, 2020, leaving one coronavirus patient there and one at Juan F. Luis Hospital on St. Croix.
He also announced that public school facilities would remain closed for the rest of the 2019-20 school year and reminded residents that churches and other houses of worship remained subject to social-distancing rules, including a ban on gatherings of 10 or more people.
