Public Works commissioner and OMB director sworn in at Government House
Nelson Petty Jr. was sworn in as commissioner of the Virgin Islands Department of Public Works and Julio A. Rhymer Sr. was sworn in as director of the Virgin Islands Office of Management and Budget at a Government House ceremony on May 1, 2018.
Maria M. Cabret, associate justice of the Supreme Court of the Virgin Islands, administered the oath of office.
Petty had served as commissioner designee before his swearing-in. Government House said he previously worked at the Department of Public Works in several roles, including construction program manager and lead engineer for federally funded highway projects.
Before his appointment, Rhymer served as executive director and chief executive officer of the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority. He had joined WAPA as chief financial officer in 2012 and previously served as chief financial officer of the Virgin Islands Housing Finance Authority.
