Bryan said U.S. Virgin Islands had one active COVID-19 case on April 24
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. said at an April 24 press conference that the Virgin Islands Department of Health was tracking one active COVID-19 case.
Bryan said 731 people had been tested for the virus. Of those, 642 tests were negative, 54 were positive, including three fatalities, and 35 were pending. He said there were no COVID-19 cases at either hospital.
Bryan said the government was continuing to stockpile supplies and seek additional health-care workers. He said the administration was in final negotiations with Doctors Without Borders, the Islamic Medical Association and other programs to bring in physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and infection specialists.
He also said the Virgin Islands Department of Labor was continuing to process unemployment claims. As of April 23, the department had issued 1,390 unemployment insurance checks totaling $969,176, he said.
Bryan said water testing had resumed at public beaches and that all 31 tested beaches were cleared for use. He said the prohibition on mass gatherings of more than 10 people remained in effect.
