VI AECOM donated defibrillators and emergency lights to the Virgin Islands Fire Service

Virgin Islands Fire Service Director Daryl George said at a press conference on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, at the Omar Brown Sr. Fire Station that storm-recovery supervising contractor VI AECOM donated seven automatic external defibrillators and seven sets of emergency lights for fire stations in the St. Thomas-St. John District.

Pat Mitchell, VI AECOM's executive director of operations, said the defibrillators had been kept at company project sites and were not used, and that the company bought the emergency lights for use on modular units moved to school sites at night.

Anon Miller, VI AECOM's industrial safety and health manager, said the defibrillators provide step-by-step instructions during an emergency.

George also said St. Croix resident Cher Will, project director of the AED Fund at the St. Croix Foundation, had raised enough community donations to place an automatic external defibrillator in every fire station on St. Croix.
