Mapp issues Passover and Easter holiday message; government offices to close for holidays
Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp issued a Passover and Easter holiday message on March 28, 2018, extending greetings to Virgin Islanders.
Government House said Holy Thursday, March 29, Good Friday, March 30, and Easter Monday, April 2, were legal holidays in the territory and that local government offices would be closed. Public schools were scheduled to be closed on March 29 and March 30.
Government House also noted that March 31, 2018, Transfer Day, was a legal holiday in the U.S. Virgin Islands and marked the 101st anniversary of the 1917 transfer of the Danish West Indies to the United States. The transfer took place on March 31, 1917, at 4 p.m. at the site of what is now the Virgin Islands Legislature.
