Bryan opened second annual Digital Health Summit on St. Thomas

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. opened the Office of Health Information Technology’s second annual Digital Health Summit at Antilles School on St. Thomas on June 14, 2023.

Government House said the three-day summit drew representatives from federal agencies, health information technology and cybersecurity experts, doctors and other digital health industry officials, and was scheduled to conclude on June 16.

At the event, Bryan discussed the use of digital health technology to expand access to care and health resources in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He also spoke about the use of data and artificial intelligence in health care and said the administration planned to expand internet connectivity and digital access beyond health care.

Dr. Sandra Elizabeth Ford, a pediatrician who previously served as President Joe Biden’s special assistant for public health and science, was the keynote speaker. Government House said she addressed the use of digital health tools to reduce health-equity gaps and improve care through data-driven treatment plans.

Government House said Bryan established the Office of Health Information Technology in 2021.
