Bryan launches reimbursement program for public school educators’ virtual-learning expenses
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. announced on Jan. 29, 2021, the launch of the Incentive for Educators Conducting Virtual Learning program, which was set to reimburse eligible public school educators for out-of-pocket expenses related to virtual learning during the 2020-21 school year.
Government House said the program would provide about 1,300 reimbursement payments using Education Stabilization Funds through the CARES Act.
According to the announcement, eligible educators included teachers, principals, content coordinators, guidance counselors and paraprofessionals. The administration said the reimbursements were for expenses educators personally incurred as a result of safety guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Virgin Islands Department of Health.
