Cruise association president praised U.S. Virgin Islands port partnership after FCCA meeting
Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association President Michele Paige said on April 30, 2018, that the group’s partnership with the ports of the U.S. Virgin Islands was "at an all-time high" following an FCCA Operations Committee meeting held in April 2018.
According to Government House, the meeting allowed the U.S. Virgin Islands delegation to exchange hurricane-preparedness practices and lessons learned with representatives from the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, St. Maarten and Puerto Rico.
The U.S. Virgin Islands delegation included Tourism Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty, Virgin Islands Port Authority Executive Director David Mapp, VIPA Assistant Executive Director and Director of Engineering Damian Cartwright, and West Indian Company CEO Clifford Graham.
Government House said the FCCA Operations Committee meetings bring together executives from FCCA member lines to discuss regional operations and opportunities. The release said the member lines operate about 200 vessels, representing 95 percent of global ocean cruising capacity. Carlos Torres de Navarra, vice president of commercial port operations for Carnival Cruise Lines, was the committee’s chairman.
