Bryan ordered U.S. flags in the Virgin Islands flown at half-staff for Patriot Day
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. ordered all U.S. flags in the Virgin Islands to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Sept. 11, 2021, to mark the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and observe Patriot Day.
Government House said the order applied to flags across the territory as a mark of respect for those killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93, as well as those who died in rescue efforts.
The administration also asked Americans to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m., the time the first airplane struck the World Trade Center, and said outdoor flags should be lowered at sunset unless the flagpoles were properly lit.
