Bryan and acting police commissioner said St. Thomas J’ouvert passed without incident

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. and acting Virgin Islands Police Commissioner Jason Marsh said on May 2, 2019, that the J’ouvert celebration on St. Thomas had concluded without incident.

In a Government House statement published May 3, Marsh thanked police officers and participants for their cooperation during the event. Bryan also thanked the Virgin Islands Police Department, emergency responders and support organizations involved in Carnival activities.

The statement said St. Thomas Carnival events were scheduled to conclude on May 5, 2019, with fireworks in Charlotte Amalie harbor. It said the celebration had been extended by one day because of a delay in receiving the fireworks, according to Carnival Committee officials.

Government House also said Lt. Gov. Tregenza Roach was in Grenada attending the United Nations Caribbean Regional Seminar.
