WAPA board chairman said emergency meeting was called over employee's racist social media posts

Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority Governing Board Chairman Anthony D. Thomas said on June 20, 2020, that a WAPA employee had engaged in racist public discourse on social media.

Thomas said the conduct would not be tolerated by the authority's leadership and announced that he had called an emergency board meeting for June 22, 2020, to address the matter.

In the statement, Thomas also said WAPA's board reiterated that "black lives do matter" and that racism and bigotry were not tolerated.
