WAPA said Midland Road underground utility work continued on St. Croix

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on May 3, 2022, that construction continued on Midland Road, also known as Route 663, between the Melvin H. Evans Highway stoplight and the Queen Mary Highway stoplight on St. Croix.

WAPA said road closures were in effect between the entrances at Saldana Street and Ramirez Street along Midland Road from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Southbound traffic was being detoured along Cruz Street, Colon Street and Ramirez Street before returning to Midland Road, with the reverse route used for northbound traffic.

WAPA said partial or full road closures could be required to complete the work. The authority said its contractor, VI Paving, was installing underground electrical conduits to transition existing overhead service underground.
