The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on September 11, 2023, that it did not share customer information with third parties.
The authority said some customers may have received unsolicited calls or messages claiming they had won Powerball, prizes or money, and falsely stating that the information came through WAPA. WAPA said it was not affiliated with those calls and did not endorse such activity.
WAPA urged customers to be cautious about unsolicited communications, verify messages claiming to be from the authority or other organizations, avoid sharing personal or financial information with unverified individuals, and report suspicious activity.
