Lane closure and power interruption scheduled on St. Croix for Container Port undergrounding work

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said a single-lane closure and an electrical service interruption were scheduled on St. Croix from 8 a.m. on February 11, 2023, through 1 p.m. on February 12, 2023, as part of the Container Port Underground Project.

The closure was set for the intersection of Container Port Road and Melvin Evans Highway.

WAPA said the work required de-energizing the transmission line from Richmond to Midland so contractors could enter manholes and perform repairs tied to the undergrounding project.
