The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on October 31, 2023, that it had attended the annual Energy Fair held the previous weekend at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center on St. Thomas.

According to WAPA, the event was hosted by UVI’s Caribbean Green Technology Center in collaboration with the Virgin Islands Energy Office. WAPA said employees spoke with residents about ongoing projects, including electrical infrastructure undergrounding, a composite pole project that it described as nearly complete, and the addition of new generation units at the Randolph Harley Power Plant.

WAPA also said staff answered questions from attendees and presented a live display on how power is distributed and what safety measures to take when encountering live wires. The authority said it distributed flyers on energy conservation, meter tampering prevention and customer alert sign-ups.
