Bryan received inaugural NHIT public-sector health IT award in Washington
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. was recognized on September 20, 2023, by the National Health IT Collaborative for the Underserved at the group’s 15th Anniversary Reception and Health Equity and Inclusiveness Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C.
The ceremony marked the inaugural presentation of the NHIT Health Equity and Inclusiveness Award, which recognized nine honorees in the public, private and nonprofit sectors for work related to broadband access, telehealth and precision medicine for underserved communities.
NHIT recognized Bryan in the public sector for efforts to modernize the U.S. Virgin Islands healthcare system through technology, including a governmentwide Health IT Strategic Plan, the launch of a Health Information Exchange pilot with CRISP Shared Services, and the use of emergency patient-tracking systems including JPATS and PULSE.
In a statement released September 21, 2023, Bryan said the 2017 storms underscored the need for information technology in the territory’s healthcare system.
