Bryan issued statement on passage of American Rescue Plan
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued a statement on March 10, 2021, after Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act, a $1.9 trillion federal pandemic aid package.
In the statement, Bryan said the measure would support the U.S. Virgin Islands' economic recovery and cited provisions including $1,400 stimulus payments, tax credits for children and low-income families, aid for businesses, rental relief, unemployment support, health-insurance subsidies and nutrition programs such as SNAP.
Bryan also said the territory secured substantial funding in the legislation and pointed to reimbursable and equal treatment for the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Child Tax Credit and the expansion of SNAP.
