WAPA said disconnections for nonpayment resumed after holiday pause
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on January 15, 2019, that it had resumed disconnections for customers who did not pay electric and water bills after a relaxation of the policy during the 2018 holiday season.
WAPA said bills were issued every 30 days for an approximate 30-day service period. The authority said a bill issued on January 6, 2019, would be due on January 26, become delinquent on January 27, and receive a late notice on January 28. If unpaid, the account would be subject to disconnection 14 days later, on February 12, according to the notice.
WAPA said accounts disconnected for nonpayment were subject to a $25 reconnection fee before service could be restored.
The authority said customer service offices were located at Sunny Isle on St. Croix, The Marketplace on St. John, and Port of Sale Mall on St. Thomas.
