Mapp authorized 3% cost-of-living raises for more than 1,200 non-union and exempt employees
Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp authorized 3% cost-of-living salary increases for more than 1,200 non-union classified and exempt Virgin Islands government employees, according to an Oct. 22, 2018 Government House announcement.
The raises were made retroactive to Oct. 1, 2018, through Executive Order 485-2018, which was authorized on Oct. 18, 2018.
The order stated that the Fiscal Year 2019 budget proposal submitted to the 32nd Legislature included a 3% salary increase for non-union classified employees and exempt employees in the executive branch. Commissioners, assistant commissioners, directors and assistant directors were excluded from the increase.
According to the order, the affected employees had not been included in prior executive orders granting raises, and some had gone as long as eight years without a salary increase.
