The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said its regular Governing Board meeting was scheduled for March 30, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. The meeting was to be held by videoconference from the Sunny Isles Business Office second-floor conference room and was open to the public.

WAPA said the meeting would proceed after a legal review tied to a court order involving legislation on the board’s composition. According to the authority, the board structure complied with the law after the removal of Joel Lee, director of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, because the legislation limited government board membership to the director of the Virgin Islands Energy Office.

WAPA said the law provided for six private-sector members in addition to the Energy Office director. At the time of the notice, the board included four private-sector members and Energy Office Director Kyle Fleming, who served as chairman.

The authority also identified board members Hubert Turnbull, Cheryl Boynes-Jackson, Juanita Young and Elizabeth Armstrong in the notice.
